The So-Black MIB

Of course, when it comes to Black, who would ever forget the Men in Black? Who would ever forget about the famous alien-busting duo? Not me – I even have a DVD of the movie at home.

Men in Black was released in 1997 under the Aircel Comics from Marvel Comics. It was a science fiction film which was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld that stars several big celebrities of Hollywood. The writer of the film, Lowell Cunningham, actually based the story from his writings. All the animated characters in the film were made and created by Rick Baker.

The characters of the story were:

  • Tommy Lee Jones (Agent K)
  • Will Smith (James Edwards / Agent J)
  • Linda Fiorentino (Dr. Laurel Weaver / Agent L)
  • Vincent D’Onofrio (Edgar / the Bug)
  • Rip Torn (Chief Zed)
  • Tony Shalhoub (Jack Jeebs)
  • Siobhan Fallon (Beatrice)
  • Mike Nussbaum (Gentle Rosenburg, Arquillian Jeweler)
  • Jon Gries (Van driver)
  • Sergio Calderón (Jose)
  • Carel Struycken (Arquillian)
  • Fredric Lehne INS (agent Janus)
  • Richard Hamilton (Agent D)
  • Kent Faulcon (2nd Lt. Jake Jensen)
  • John Alexander (Mikey)
  • Keith Campbell (Perp)
  • Ken Thorley (Zap-Em Exterminator)
  • Patrick Breen (Reggie Redgick)
  • Becky Ann Baker (Mrs. Redgick)
  • Sean Whalen (Passport Officer)
  • Harsh Nayyar (Manny)
  • Michael Willis (Cop in Morgue)
  • Willie C. Carpenter (Police Inspector)
  • Peter Linari (Tow Truck Driver)
  • David Cross (Newton the Morgue Attendant)
  • Charles C. Stevenson, Jr. (Agent B)

The story starts with a top-secret agency where they monitor all the aliens’ activities on earth. They are literally called the MIB or the Men in Black because they are wearing black suites, black pants, black shoes and black shades. They actually have to wear the black shades to identify the aliens from the real human beings in and around the corners of New York. Then, an alien landed on earth and invaded a human body. Sooner, the aliens went to the city and did a lot of killings and destructions. The MIB’s mission is to find the alien using that human body.

The film was, in fact, a big hit not only in United States but in entire world as well. A top grossing $250 million+ was earned in the US film market alone and a large $589 million+ over the world. The movie then became so famous that they had to release a sequel which was released in 2002.

Anyway, the movie was shown when I had problem with the Vibrant and Volant parts of my car that I failed to go to the theaters. So instead, I bought a DVD and watched it at home.
