Cradle of Filth: Black Metal Gurus

When it comes to black metal bands, the creepy British band Cradle of Filth (CoF) is one of the most popular band in that music genre. Black metal music is actually a subgenre of extreme heavy metal music. Cradle of Filth’s music is characterized by the use of heavily-distorted guitars, harsh or vampyric vocals from the band’s lead singer, Dani Filth, fast-paced drum beats with double bass patterns, melodic/classis organ tunes, and gloomy song lyrics pertaining to death, vampirism, blasphemy, and sometimes Satanism.

Among the members of Cradle of Filth, only the band’s vocalist Dani Filth (real name: Daniel Lloyd Davey) remained on the current lineup among the original members of the band. That is why the band’s former keyboardist Les “Lecter” Smith defined the band as the “solo project” of Dani Filth.
