Real Designers Wear Black Says Von Holzhausen

What is the dominant color that designers wear? A renowned designer said it’s black.
Many designers were on hand at the opening of the NAIAS to tackle their craft at a forum. Though they were from a range of automakers and different kinds of custom companies, a trend emerged: Nearly all designers wear black, reported MLive.
The common color is black. Black shirts and jackets are said to be the unofficial uniform of the said motor show. Actually, you can hardly see ties but jeans were ordinary.
Designers wear black as an identity,” said Franz von Holzhausen, director of design for Mazda’s North American operations. He is the man behind the catchy Furai. Furai, which is a Japanese word for ‘sound of the wind,’ is the latest vehicle in Mazda’s concept cars.
“Anticipating future rules changes in the ALMS, we created a new closed cockpit which would be more appropriate for a future production model,” said von Holzhausen at the NAIAS. “The major element we did not change is the 450-horsepower RENESIS-based R20B 3-rotor rotary engine that provides the Furai’s ample Zoom-Zoom. The ultimate Mazda in our minds is rotary powered; as a company, we have no intention of abandoning that valuable asset. When people think of the very best production sports cars in the world, the rotary powered Mazda RX-7 is always on that list.”
“One thing we learned from CFD studies is that we don’t need much rear wing to balance the down force created by the front splitter and the Nagare features we’ve sculpted into the body,” said von Holzhausen in an interview with Ultimatecarpage.com.
“Combustion air is provided by a variation of the Turbo Tongue device that Swift developed for Indy car use a decade ago. It rises slightly higher than the surrounding roof surface to ingest clean air above the boundary layer. Our final design works so well that we applied for a joint patent with Swift. Of course, it helps that it’s a real piece of art, too, and one we had to incorporate into the design,” he concluded.

Hyundai’s Newest Concept

One of the highlights of the recent 2007 Los Angeles International Auto Show was the Hyundai Concept Genesis Coupe. This new concept model was the most anticipated product of the South Korea-based automaker. According to Hyundai, the Hyundai Concept Genesis Coupe marks the “introduction of an all-new, rear-wheel drive 2 + 2 sports coupe scheduled to join the Hyundai lineup in the spring of 2009.”

John Krafcik, vice president, product development and strategic planning, Hyundai Motor America commented: “Concept Genesis Coupe is the most thrilling, most emotional Hyundai yet. When it hits the market in early 2009, we aim to deliver a driving experience that challenges cars like Infiniti G37, at prices more like Mitsubishi Eclipse.”

Joel Piaskowski, chief designer at the Hyundai Design Center in Irvine, Calif. also commented: “The mission for Concept Genesis Coupe was to create a pure performance car with a design that would capture the imagination of hardcore automotive enthusiasts. Disney Doesn’t Want Metal Shows

Now I’m starting to hate Disney! Why? Then read this out!

Disney has recently cancelled the metal concerts that were supposed to be held on its theme parks in California and Florida at the House of Blues. Called the Viva La Bands 2007 North American tour, the concert was sponsored by MTV’s Bam Margera and Rockstar Energy Drinks.

Disney said the main reason for canceling the concert is that the metal bands that will be performing shows extreme behaviors and violent lyrics that are inappropriate for the family-oriented theme park. Among the metal bands that were supposed to perform in Disney include Cannibal Corpse, Machine Head, GWAR, and Cradle of Filth, just to name the few.

Dani Filth vocalist of the black metal band Cradle of Filth’s commented about Disney’s cancellation of the concert:

“We’ve already played there three times in the past, so I’m guessing that the added antics of Bam and the barbarian grossness of GWAR to the unholy brew has warranted only further worry for the corporation. Lucky then that our ‘Jesus Is A C**t’ t-shirts are inappropriate everywhere!”

He added: “Anyway, if Disney didn’t want to see hordes of black-clad figures lurking around their jaded kingdom then they should’ve thought twice about creating characters like Cruella DeVille and Maleficent in the first place. The main difference being that this tour is no fairytale and that we’re the real f***ing deal!”

I think Dani Filth is right. Disney shouldn’t have created devilish characters if they wanted a wholesome image. Anyway, Bam Margera should find another venue for the concert tour. Let’s forget about those bunch of losers (Disney officials! Who else?) who cancelled the event.

I got to upgrade my Volvo transmission mount while waiting for this metal concert tour.

Black Lips Rocks Brooklyn

Atlanta-based alternative rock band Black Lips painted the town red when the band came to Brooklyn, New York in a Black (Lips) Parade (Ooops.. not the My Chemical Romance song). Dubbed as the “Black Lips Circus and Bad Kids’ Parade”, the band set themselves up to the center ring of the parade with a marching band, and played some of their songs while heading to the concert venue.

The band is known for doing weird stuff on stage and displaying unpleasant behaviors while performing. The “Black Lips Circus and Bad Kids’ Parade” is one of the band’s weird stuffs. In an interview with MTV News, band singer and guitarist Cole Alexander said: “It’s always kind of a circus mentality of people being degenerates at our shows, so we decided to take it to the next level by inviting kids — not even at a show — to parade down the streets. We embody bad kids, and that’s why we created the Bad Kids Circus, to parade down the streets, promoting juvenile delinquent behavior.”

Bassist Jared Swilley also commented: “We wanted to spice things up a little. It was kind of thrown together last minute, though and that much was apparent. The circus part of the night was a tad bumpy due to a bunch of last-minute cancellations (including jugglers, ponies and a couple of other circus acts), but the band’s acoustic set went ahead with burlesque dancers and a marching band that led the crowd into the streets for the second portion of the night, the “Bad Kids’ Parade.”

The “Black Lips Circus and Bad Kids’ Parade” arrived in the concert venue with over 200 participants dressed up in costumes. There are also confetti launchers, fire-breathers, and the band members skateboarding.

Later in that night, the band went on the stage at Music Hall of Williamsburg and performed their hits while the messy crowd throw their heads off. Anyway, it was a good and proper show after all.

These guys really rock! \m/

I got to go now and look for some replacement Dodge AC condensers on the web. Chill out!

The Black Wire – Slashed!

British indie rock (we call it alternative rock in the U.S.) band Black Wire has recently disbanded because of some freaky reasons. The band members, Daniel Wilson (vocals), Si McCabe (guitars, backing vocals, and other noise), Tom Greatorex (bass), and Danny Prescott (drums) said that the band split was due to some intrigues in the music industry.

The band was formed in 2003 and had only one self titled studio album released in 2005. “Attack! Attack! Attack!” and “Smoke & Mirrors” are one of my fave tracks in this album.

Anyway, bassist Tom Greatorex told NME (New Musical Express), one of the leading music publications in the UK about the band’s split up. He said:

“I’m sat here trying to comprehend writing an obituary for the single most beloved thing in my life and for every emotion that may be coursing through my veins I can’t find a single word, mumble, utterance or sob that conveys how I feel while I’m up these walls and down this well.

“There are no smart words, picturesque analogies or romantic ramblings that can replace or cover up pure heart felt emotion, and so the simple, the most direct, honest and throat choked way I can say what I want is this…I am empty and heartbroken that Black Wire have had to disband. I’m angry and upset but not at anyone.”

He added: “I advise anyone starting a band to stick every finger, toe and tongue up to the grinding rusty cogs of mindlessness.”

Whew! You can feel how much Greatorex is disappointed with the disbandment. Anyway, I hope the band can continue their music career anytime soon. Well, its time for me to browse some auto parts upgrade (GMC bed rail) on the web.

Whew! It took me a week to find another interesting “black” stuff. Anyway, just check this black thingy that I will feature for today.

The upcoming Resident Evil: Extinction film that stars Milla Jojovich will feature a customized BMW K 1200 R bike. Right. This customized BMW bike will be used by Alice (Jojovich’s character in the film) while shooting some gruesome zombies.

The artist Georg Huber designed the bike to celebrate the participation of the BMW K 1200 R in the film. The bike was called as the “RE3” (short for Resident Evil 3) and features a black exterior with gold spinal bones airbrushed on the bike’s fuel tank. The RE3 also comes with RE3 letterings on some other parts. Check out the RE3 below along with the gorgeous Milla Jojovich.

Jojovich commented about the RE3: “I’m not the best judge but I’ve had a few guy friends freak out over it and say that the bones design are awesome. It looks great.”

About the upcoming Resident Evil: Extinction film, Jojovich also commented:
“It was a lot of fun making it – these films have been a great experience for me. I guess I feel like I can do a lot of different parts but action I really love. I love training and working with weapons; it’s a lot of fun but takes a lot of focus. I get to recreate this character and it’s been a great opportunity for me – not many actors can say they have a 3 DVD box-set.”

Anyway, Georg Huber only modified the external appearance of the BMW K 1200 R. The bike still features the high performance BMW parts. Want to check them out? Then here are the specs of the BMW K 1200 R.. or the RE3.

New Scientific Study Found Hidden Black Holes

Ker Than of SPACE.com created an article about a phenomenon called active galactic nuclei (AGN). According to Than, AGN have have active supermassive black holes at their cores that illuminates by emitting powerful beams of radiation.

These black holes are hidden because of thick walls of dust and gas, according to a new astronomical study. In this type of hidden AGN, the central black hole is so “heavily shrouded by gas and dust that no visible light escapes. As a result, these galaxies are difficult to detect and were missed by previous AGN surveys.” according to Than.

Jack Tueller, the head of research from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland said:
“This is an important discovery because it will help us better understand why some supermassive black holes shine and others don’t.”

Tueller added: “These are the same energies as the X-rays used in the doctor’s office. They’re very penetrating. They can go through the human body. They can go through that accreting torus of matter.”

Tueller concluded: “We think these black holes have played a crucial role in controlling the formation of galaxies, and they control the flow of matter into star clusters. You can’t understand the universe without understanding giant black holes and what they’re doing.

What’s the importance of this study? Well, Tueller said the study plays a significant role in the evolution of galaxies. This will also help every individual to understand the universe. Anyway, I got to go first ands look for some Honda brake pad on the web for my car. Ciao!
